Climbing with two (3 yrs and 5 months)

We decided to bring both kids outdoors a couple of weeks ago to take advantage of this stellar weather and just to see if we could actually survive the outdoors with two. It was an adventure I must say. Lola will no longer ride in our Kelty backpack, therefore, mommy and daddy carried her some which was interesting considering the intensity of the approach trail down to the climbing area. There are several steps towards the top of the mountain which were especially brutal considering we had about 75 to 80 pounds of kids plus gear to carry. We managed to get one climb in and we consider that a success. I think it took me a couple days to recover from this outing!!

December Bday and Christmas 2011

Lola turned three on December 4th and had a visit from princess Rhapunzel. Over Thanksgiving, she had broken her tibia on a large inflatable slide so the entire month she was immobile. Made for lots of crafts and fine motor activities! Gus was compliant with the Christmas pics, however in typical three year old style, Lola refused to pose with Santa. The cast was removed three days after Christmas and it would then take her another two weeks to take steps again. She also had a fever on Christmas morning so pictures from this holiday are pretty much non-existent. I will not fail to mention both kids had RSV shortly after. Needless to say, we were all running towards a fresh start in 2012!

Halloween and Thanksgiving 2011

Lola and Gus enjoyed their first Halloween together in Charlotte with the Gunn cousins. Gus did not sport his Tigger costume until a few days afterwards. The trick or treat run was very chilly this year. Here is Lola with her cousins Sophie, Gaines, and Anna Carmen Gunn. Candy, candy, more candy!!!!!!!!!! Also pictured is Mary Katherine, Gaines and Anna Carmen admiring their new cousin Gus during the Thanksgiving holiday:) Thanksgiving aw yes Thanksgiving 2011 and the events that transpired post large inflatable slide. This moment in time is seared into my memory and not to be forgotten...

Pre-school

Lola is really enjoying her pre-school this year. She's in the 2 year class at Presbyterian Weekday School with Ms. Kearly and Ms. Miller. She has adjusted pretty well and has made several little friends including her little bff Emily. She enjoyed attending her first princess birthday party at her classmates house.

Baby Brother

It's hard to believe it's been about 6 months since I've updated this blog. This is life adjusting to 2 kids I guess. I sort've went back and forth trying to decide if I should create a separate Gus blog or keep everything under Little Miss Lola. Well, I think managing two blogs on top of everything else would just throw me over the edge so here we are! In the fall of 2011 we welcomed Gus into the world. Lola finally has a baby brother. He was born at 4:23 pm and was 8 pounds 14 ounces, 21.5 inches long. His birth weight almost 2 pounds larger than Lola's! He made a dramatic appearance during the delivery and I hope he is not setting up the scene for his teenage years!!!
